Wedding Survival Guide

Contacts
There are several people on hand to help you should you require it. They speak Italian and English, know the area and are just generally helpful people. They are:

  • Enzo Biondino - Luisa's father
  • Daniel Biondino - Luisa's brother
  • Ben Biondino - Luisa's uncle
Serge also has a reasonable knowledge of Penne - however he has a terrible sense of direction and will probably have his mind on other things....We will send you an email closer to the date of the wedding which will detail the Italian contact details.

Basic map of Penne

This is by no means a detailed map of Penne, but it gives you the basic information to get you into Penne and parked in Penne - plus a general orientation.

You of course have Sat navs and trusty google maps at your disposal too.

Large Entrance doors to Penne Old Town
We expect it might be an interesting journey getting to Penne for the first time. If you see this - you know you have made it. These are the large entrance doors to Penne.

Remember, refer to the map above - you then need to go past these doors before you can park.

Serge’s Accommodation
Strada Leopardi  3
Penne 65017

Directions: If you go to the main square in Penne and walk up through the green arch you will see the church entrance (pictured right).  If you see this, turn 180 degrees and walk 5 meters. You're there - you cant miss it. The number on the outside of the building is 6 and the name on the bell is Prazsky.

Transportation

Cars
The best and quickest way to get around is to drive. A sat-nav is advisable as many of the streets are not signposted well. As a guide, Penne is approximately 40 minutes from the beach in Pescara heading towards the mountains.

If you are driving to Penne, please see a marked map of Penne below. As you approach Penne from Pescara you will see a tree lined street leading up to the Penne Old Town entrance gates. Cars cannot enter the old town however you can walk through the gates to the church - carparking is on your left if you follow on Circonvallazione Aldo Moro. From here it is a 300m walk to into Piazza Luca where the church ceremony will be held.

Taxis
The number of taxis in Pescara is quite low. Finding a taxi on the street to get around is also quite rare so please organise a taxi with your hotel in advance should you need it. As a gauge, taxis cost approximately 15 euro for Montesilvano to Pescara. If you prefer to catch a taxi from Pescara or Montesilvano to Penne then the cost is approximately 60 euro one way.

Taxis from the Reception venue to any other location will need to be booked two weeks prior. The taxi company do not speak English so if you require this, please let us know and we will be happy to organise this for you.

If you speak Italian or feel that you can get by with passion and enthusiasm, the taxi service contact details are:
Mr. Michael Giovanetti  - president of the taxi company
Office: +39 085 35155
Mobile: +39 348 335 1767

Bus: Pescara to Penne
The bus timetable is below.  The bus leaves from the Pescara Centrale Train/Bus Terminal and arrives outside the old town walls in Penne. Please allow enough time to find the right bus as the buses arent labelled and you may need to ask for the right bus to Penne.

Note -
(1) Feriali - means Monday to Saturday
(2) Festivi - means Sundays and public holidays

The other numbers are just various routes but they all come to Penne
* - means non stop

For the wedding day, the very last scheduled bus departure time (to be able to make it on time to the church) leaves on Sundays at 2.05pm sharp.

Buses to Penne can be paid on board the bus (other local buses need a ticket bought from any bar/tabacchino etc) at a cost of approximately 2 – 3 euros. It is a good idea to have loose change on you!
